SkyWest Reports January Traffic Rose 9.9 Percent

SkyWest Inc., which operates SkyWest Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, said on Wednesday that its January traffic rose 9.9 percent.

The increase means SkyWest logged 1.37 billion revenue passenger miles, or one passenger flown one mile, during January. That was up from 1.25 billion revenue passenger miles in January 2008.

Capacity, measured as available seat miles, rose 8.4 percent to 1.87 billion.

With traffic rising faster than capacity, planes were 1 percentage point fuller, bringing occupancy to 73.3 percent.

SkyWest Airlines, based in St. George, Utah, and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Inc. ("ASA"), based in Atlanta, Georgia are wholly owned subsidiaries of SkyWest, Inc. SkyWest Airlines operates as United Express and Delta Connection carriers under contractual agreements with United Airlines and Delta Air Lines. SkyWest Airlines also operates flights for AirTran Airways under a marketing agreement. ASA operates as a Delta Connection carrier under a contractual agreement with Delta Air Lines. ASA is scheduled to begin service as a United Express carrier in February 2010 under a contractual agreement with United Airlines. System-wide, SkyWest, Inc. serves a total of approximately 224 cities in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, with approximately 2,600 daily departures.
