Skywest Inc., the parent company of Skywest Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, reported that despite the cancellation of 750 flights this quarter it will report a first-quarter profit of $4.5-7.5 million dollars.
On March 31, 2009, as a result of an internal audit, ASA grounded 60 CRJ200 regional jet aircraft in order to perform engine safety inspections in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. It is estimated that ASA canceled approximately 750 flights more than normal as a result of the severe weather and aircraft grounding during the quarter.
SkyWest is scheduled to release its first-quarter results on May 6.
