Republic Airways Holdings Inc. said Wednesday its traffic doubled last month, as it continued to be boosted by its acquisitions of Frontier and Midwest airlines last year.
The company said paying passengers flew 1.75 billion miles in April, compared with about 850 million miles in the same month last year. Traffic was down slightly from March, when paying passengers flew 1.83 billion miles.
Republic’s capacity, or percentage of available seats, expanded last month by 94 percent to 2.19 billion available seat miles. Its occupancy rate rose 5 percentage points to 80 percent.
So far this year, the company’s traffic has tripled, its capacity has more than doubled, and its occupancy rate has improved by 8 percentage points to 75 percent.
Republic bought Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines in July 2009 and Denver-based Frontier in October.
Republic also provides regional service under deals with major airlines. It flies as American Connection, Continental Express, Delta Connection, United Express and US Airways Express.
