Republic Airways Holdings Inc. says its traffic more than doubled from a year ago last month, after the company bought Frontier Airlines.
The company said Friday that paying passengers flew 2 billion miles on the company's planes in August, up 120 percent from 907.4 million in the same month a year earlier. Frontier accounted for about three-fifths of Republic's traffic.
The company's passenger-carrying capacity also doubled to 2.39 billion available seat miles from 1.14 billion a year earlier.
Average occupancy of the company's planes rose to 84 percent from 79 percent a year ago.
Republic flies under the Frontier name as well as under contract for big carriers including Delta Air Lines Inc.
