JetBlue Airways Corp. said its March traffic, capacity and occupancy rose compared to the same month a year ago.
The airline said Tuesday it flew 2.45 billion revenue passenger miles last month, a 9.1 percent increase compared to 2.25 billion in March 2009. A revenue passenger mile is an industry unit measuring one paying passenger flown one mile.
Available seat miles, or capacity, rose 6.4 percent to 3.02 billion from 2.83 billion a year ago.
Load factor, or occupancy, rose 2.0 percentage points to 81.3 percent from 79.3 percent in March 2009.
Year-to-date, the New York airline said it flew 6.47 billion revenue passenger miles compared to 6.04 billion a year earlier, while available seat miles rose to 8.42 billion from 7.94 billion and its load factor inched up to 76.8 percent from 76.0 percent a year earlier.
