JetBlue Airways Corp. said Tuesday its July traffic rose 8.3 percent from a year ago, as capacity rose.
The airline said it flew 2.76 billion revenue miles last month, up from 2.55 billion in the same month last year. The figure is an industry metric accounting for one paying passenger flown one mile.
Capacity rose 8.1 percent, while occupancy rose a tenth of a percent to 86.2 percent.
For the first seven months of the year, traffic rose 8.1 percent to $16.35 billion passenger miles, while capacity rose 6.1 percent. Occupancy climbed 1.4 percentage points to 80.5 percent.
New York based JetBlue Airways serves 61 cities with 650 daily flights. New service to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, DC and to Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT begins in November.
