Frontier Airlines reported its seventh consecutive monthly operating profit Thursday as well as a $1.1 million net profit. It was the Denver-based airline holding company's first monthly operations report, as required under terms of its Chapter 11 filing, since announcing Tuesday that it will be acquired by Republic Airways Holdings
Fresh from Republic Airways' Monday announcement that it plans to own the airline, Frontier has increased its flights to popular destinations for its fall 2009 schedule.
Beginning September 14, Frontier is adding a seventh roundtrip flight to Las Vegas, Phoenix and a fourth roundtrip flight to Sacramento. Second roundtrip flights to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale will be added October 5.
Lynx Aviation, Frontier's subsidiary, is also adding new flights this fall; additional roundtrips to Albuquerque, Omaha and Salt Lake City will be available starting September 14. Lynx will discontinue all service to El Paso and Grand Junction on that same date.
