We had a conversation with American Eagle representatives this morning who informed us that Eagle is presently recalling all of its furloughed pilots and will soon begin hiring over 150 new pilots.
Eagle also informed us that in spite of American Airlines giving some of Eagle’s flying to SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet Airlines, Eagle will not suffer a net loss in flying. American also awarded additional routes to American Eagle which resulted in the Pilot recalls and the new hiring to come.
It is also anticipated that Eagle is in line to acquire and fly larger Regional Jets for American, such as E170s and E175s, in place of some of Eagles smaller jets presently flown which carry 50 passengers or less. A federal bankruptcy judge recently struck down the contract of the American Pilots Association (APA) which has prevented Eagle from flying larger Regional Jets for American. American then outsourced some of the routes being flown by the 50 seat aircraft that Eagle flew to SkyWest and ExpressJet.
