Airlines in the United States are still reporting strong profits and the expansion of their fleets to meet growing demand for air travel. This fleet expansion drives the demand for new airline pilots to fly these new aircraft and further deepens the shortage of qualified pilots across the globe.
Delta Air Lines recently reported that the airline had earned over $4.5 billion dollars in 2015 alone, setting the stage for Delta to expand operations both in the United States and across both oceans to Europe and Asia.

United Airlines reported annual profits of $4.5 billion in 2015 and reached agreement with Boeing to buy forty new 737-700 aircraft beginning in 2016.
Hawaiian Airlines reported that they had doubled profits from 2014. Jetblue reported yearly profits for 2015 rose more than 50%. Southwest Airlines reported that they had topped one billion dollars in annual profit for the first time in 2015.
