Delta Airlines to Hire Pilots Beginning in November

A Delta Air Lines executive announced that for the first time since 2010 Delta will hire 300 pilots beginning in November of this year.
Delta will reportedly hire 50 pilots per month from November through early 2014, then about 20 per month through September 2014, said Delta’s senior vice president of flight operations Steve Dickson during a talk at a luncheon recently.
Delta’s presently furloughed pilots will be the first to be offered these positions, but it is unknown how many will accept a recall. Pilots presently flying for Compass Airlines, who have a flow-through agreement to Delta that has been in place since Compass was acquired by Delta along with Northwest Airlines. More positions will go to pilots flying for Delta's regional subsidiary Endeavor Air. The rest of the positions will be filled by pilots from other regional carriers, as well as a few pilots retiring from the Military.
