How well did the program prepare you for your career at SkyWest Airlines ?
After being at SkyWest Airlines since October, I can say ATP prepared me very well for the training environment at a regional. The accelerated structure of ATP mimics what initial new hires at a regional airline are to expect. If a student can make it at ATP, there's no reason why they should have any issues with new hire training at a regional.
Was the training you received relevant and similar to the training at SkyWest Airlines ?
The training at SkyWest and ATP are similar. In fact, I would argue that ATP’s training curriculum is superior to SkyWest. What I really appreciated about ATP’s training program is the focus on using technology to enhance learning. I loved how your program was tracked through a calendar that was synced to your iPhone. I really liked ATP’s focus on keeping you on track with the "days behind" number. Granted, I was probably more motivated than your average student so I was able to power through the course quickly. I think the best part of training, however, was the computer based videos with quizzes at the end of each module that prepare you for the next day's lesson. It gives the student an intro to the topic with the opportunity to ask the CFI more in-depth questions at the lesson instead of hearing it for the first time from the CFI. Bottom line, ATP gives you the tools to complete the program, and it is up to the student to fulfill their part.
Were you able to get to where you are today in the timeframe you wanted?
I am a career changer and my goal was to get through ATP, building my 1500 hours, and be at a regional within 2 years. It was an extremely aggressive goal. I was able to get to SkyWest 19 months after starting training with ATP. So yes, ATP was 100% the correct decision to reach my goal of being at a regional quickly and well prepared.
Do you feel the program was well structured for the cost?
Yes. 100%. The structure of the program is why I chose ATP and I am extremely satisfied with that decision.
